HarryandRonmetupwithHermioneinthecommonroom,andtheywentdowntobreakfasttogether.TheyspentmostofthemorninginGryffindorTower,whereeveryonewasenjoyingtheirpresents,thenreturnedtotheGreatHallforamagnificentlunch,whichincludedatleastahundredturkeysandChristmaspuddings,andlargepilesofCribbage’sWizardingCrackers.
Theywentoutontothegroundsintheafternoon;thesnowwasuntouchedexceptforthedeepchannelsmadebytheDurmstrangandBeauxbatonsstudentsontheirwayuptothecastle.HermionechosetowatchHarryandtheWeasleys’snowballfightratherthanjoinin,andatfiveo’clocksaidshewasgoingbackupstairstogetreadyfortheball.
"What,youneedthreehours?"saidRon,lookingatherincredulouslyandpayingforhislapseinconcentrationwhenalargesnowball,thrownbyGeorge,hithimhardonthesideofthehead.
