           Everytentofifteenseconds,sharpmetalspikespoppedthroughitsbulbousfleshandthewholecreatureabruptlycurledintoaballandspunforward.Thenitwouldsettle,seemingtogatheritsbearings,thespikesrecedingbackthroughthemoistskinwithasickslurpingsound.Itdidthisoverandover,travelingjustafewfeetatatime.

           ButhairandspikeswerenottheonlythingsprotrudingfromtheGriever’sbody.Severalrandomlyplacedmechanicalarmsstuckouthereandthere,eachonewithadifferentpurpose.Afewhadbrightlightsattachedtothem.Othershadlong,menacingneedles.Onehadathree-fingeredclawthatclaspedandunclaspedfornoapparentreason.Whenthecreaturerolled,thesearmsfoldedandmaneuveredtoavoidbeingcrushed.Thomaswonderedwhatorwhocouldcreatesuchfrightening,disgustingcreatures.

           Thesourceofthesoundshe’dbeenhearingmadesensenow.WhentheGrieverrolled,itmadethemetallicwhirringsound,likethespinningbladeofasaw.Thespikesandthearmsexplainedthecreepyclickingsounds,metalagainststone.
