           Onemorning,aboutafortnightafterIhadobtainedmyliberty,Reldresal,principalsecretary(astheystylehim)forprivateaffairs,cametomyhouseattendedonlybyoneservant.Heorderedhiscoachtowaitatadistance,anddesiredIwouldgivehimanhoursaudience;whichIreadilyconsentedto,onaccountofhisqualityandpersonalmerits,aswellasofthemanygoodofficeshehaddonemeduringmysolicitationsatcourt.Iofferedtoliedownthathemightthemoreconvenientlyreachmyear,buthechoserathertoletmeholdhiminmyhandduringourconversation.Hebeganwithcomplimentsonmyliberty;said"hemightpretendtosomemeritinit;"but,however,added,"thatifithadnotbeenforthepresentsituationofthingsatcourt,perhapsImightnothaveobtaineditsosoon.For,"saidhe,"asflourishingaconditionaswemayappeartobeintoforeigners,welabourundertwomightyevils:aviolentfactionathome,andthedangerofaninvasion,byamostpotentenemy,fromabroad.Astothefirst,youaretounderstand,thatforaboutseventymoonspasttherehavebeentwostrugglingpartiesinthisempire,underthenamesofTramecksanandSlamecksan,fromthehighandlowheelsoftheirshoes,bywhichtheydistinguishthemselves.Itisalleged,indeed,thatthehighheelsaremostagreeabletoourancientconstitution;but,howeverthisbe,hismajestyhasdeterminedtomakeuseonlyoflowheelsintheadministrationofthegovernment,andallofficesinthegiftofthecrown,asyoucannotbutobserve;
