           Wehadnotsailedabovethreedays,whenagreatstormarising,weweredrivenfivedaystothenorth-north-east,andthentotheeast:afterwhichwehadfairweather,butstillwithaprettystronggalefromthewest.Uponthetenthdaywewerechasedbytwopirates,whosoonovertookus;formysloopwassodeepladen,thatshesailedveryslow,neitherwereweinaconditiontodefendourselves.
