           Thecountryiswellinhabited,foritcontainsfifty-onecities,nearahundredwalledtowns,andagreatnumberofvillages.Tosatisfymycuriousreader,itmaybesufficienttodescribeLorbrulgrud.Thiscitystandsuponalmosttwoequalparts,oneachsidetheriverthatpassesthrough.Itcontainsaboveeightythousandhouses,andaboutsixhundredthousandinhabitants.Itisinlengththreeglomglungs(whichmakeaboutfifty-fourEnglishmiles,)andtwoandahalfinbreadth;asImeasureditmyselfintheroyalmapmadebytheking’sorder,whichwaslaidonthegroundonpurposeforme,andextendedahundredfeet:Ipacedthediameterandcircumferenceseveraltimesbarefoot,and,computingbythescale,measureditprettyexactly.
