           Ihadanentiresetofsilverdishesandplates,andothernecessaries,which,inproportiontothoseofthequeen,werenotmuchbiggerthanwhatIhaveseeninaLondontoy-shopforthefurnitureofababy-house:thesemylittlenursekeptinherpocketinasilverbox,andgavemeatmealsasIwantedthem,alwayscleaningthemherself.Nopersondinedwiththequeenbutthetwoprincessesroyal,theeldestsixteenyearsold,andtheyoungeratthattimethirteenandamonth.Hermajestyusedtoputabitofmeatupononeofmydishes,outofwhichIcarvedformyself,andherdiversionwastoseemeeatinminiature:forthequeen(whohadindeedbutaweakstomach)tookup,atonemouthful,asmuchasadozenEnglishfarmerscouldeatatameal,whichtomewasforsometimeaverynauseoussight.Shewouldcraunchthewingofalark,bonesandall,betweenherteeth,althoughitwereninetimesaslargeasthatofafull-grownturkey;andputabitofbreadintohermouthasbigastwotwelve-pennyloaves.Shedrankoutofagoldencup,aboveahogsheadatadraught.Herknivesweretwiceaslongasascythe,setstraightuponthehandle.Thespoons,forks,andotherinstruments,wereallinthesameproportion.IrememberwhenGlumdalclitchcarriedme,outofcuriosity,toseesomeofthetablesatcourt,wheretenoradozenofthoseenormousknivesandforkswerelifteduptogether,IthoughtIhadnevertillthenbeheldsoterribleasight.

           Itisthecustom,thateveryWednesday(which,asIhaveobserved,istheirSabbath)thekingandqueen,withtheroyalissueofbothsexes,dinetogetherintheapartmentofhismajesty,towhomIwasnowbecomeagreatfavourite;andatthesetimes,mylittlechairandtablewereplacedathislefthand,beforeoneofthesalt-cellars.Thisprincetookapleasureinconversingwithme,inquiringintothemanners,religion,laws,government,andlearningofEurope;whereinIgavehimthebestaccountIwasable.
