           Theskyhadbeencompletelycloudedoverbytwo-thirtyandithadbeguntosnowanhourlater,andthistimeyoudidn’tneedaweathermantotellyouitwasserioussnow,noflurrythatwasgoingtomeltorblowawaywhentheeveningwindstartedtowhoop.Atfirstithadfalleninperfectlystraightlines,buildingupasnowcoverthatcoatedeverythingevenly,butnow,anhourafterithadstarted,thewindhadbeguntoblowfromthenorthwestandthesnowhadbeguntodriftagainsttheporchandthesidesoftheOverlook’sdriveway.Beyondthegroundsthehighwayhaddisappearedunderanevenblanketofwhite.Thehedgeanimalswerealsogone,butwhenWendyandDannyhadgottenhome,shehadcommendedhimonthegoodjobhehaddone.Doyouthinkso?hehadasked,andsaidnomore.Nowthehedgeswereburiedunderamorphouswhitecloaks.

           Curiously,allofthemwerethinkingdifferentthoughtsbutfeelingthesameemotion:relief.Thebridgehadbeencrossed.
