Doubtsofsuchkindgnawedatthechaplain’slean,sufferingframeinsatiably.Wasthereasingletruefaith,oralifeafterdeath?Howmanyangelscoulddanceontheheadofapin,andwithwhatmattersdidGodoccupyhimselfinalltheinfiniteaeonsbeforetheCreation?WhywasitnecessarytoputaprotectivesealonthebrowofCainiftherewerenootherpeopletoprotecthimfrom?DidAdamandEveproducedaughters?Thesewerethegreat,complexquestionsofontologythattormentedhim.
