           Harrywasn’tbotheredaboutwhattheneighborswouldthink,buthewasanxiousabouthowrudetheDursleysmightbetotheWeasleysiftheyturneduplookingliketheirworstideaofwizards.

           UncleVernonhadputonhisbestsuit.Tosomepeople,thismighthavelookedlikeagestureofwelcome,butHarryknewitwasbecauseUncleVernonwantedtolookimpressiveandintimidating.Dudley,ontheotherhand,lookedsomehowdiminished.Thiswasnotbecausethedietwasatlasttakingeffect,butduetofright.Dudleyhademergedfromhislastencounterwithafullygrownwizardwithacurlypig’stailpokingoutoftheseatofhistrousers,andAuntPetuniaandUncleVernonhadhadtopayforitsremovalataprivatehospitalinLondon.Itwasn’taltogethersurprising,therefore,thatDudleykeptrunninghishandnervouslyoverhisbackside,andwalkingsidewaysfromroomtoroom,soasnottopresentthesametargettotheenemy.

           Lunchwasanalmostsilentmeal.Dudleydidn’tevenprotestatthefood(cottagecheeseandgratedcelery).AuntPetuniawasn’t,eatinganythingatall.Herarmswerefolded,herlipswerepursed,andsheseemedtobechewinghertongue,asthoughbitingbackthefuriousdiatribeshelongedtothrowatHarry.

           "They’llbedriving,ofcourse?"UncleVernonbarkedacrossthetable.

           "Er,"saidHarry.

           Hehadn’tthoughtofthat.HowweretheWeasleysgoingtopickhimup?Theydidn’thaveacaranymore;theoldFordAngliatheyhadonceownedwascurrentlyrunningwildintheForbiddenForestatHogwarts.ButMr.
