           Thepairofthemlookedoutoverthelawn;theclasswaswidelyscatterednow,andallingreatdifficulty.Theskrewtswerenowoverthreefeetlong,andextremelypowerful.Nolongershell-lessandcolorless,theyhaddevelopedakindofthick,grayish,shinyarmor.Theylookedlikeacrossbetweengiantscorpionsandelongatedcrabs-butstillwithoutrecognizableheadsoreyes.Theyhadbecomeimmenselystrongandveryhardtocontrol.

           "Looklikethey’rehavin’fun,don’they?"Hagridsaidhappily.Harryassumedhewastalkingabouttheskrewts,becausehisclassmatescertainlyweren’t;everynowandthen,withanalarmingbang,oneoftheskrewts’endswouldexplode,causingittoshootforwardseveralyards,andmorethanonepersonwasbeingdraggedalongontheirstomach,tryingdesperatelytogetbackontheirfeet.

           "Ah,Idon’know,Harry,"Hagridsighedsuddenly,lookingbackdownathimwithaworriedexpressiononhisface."Schoolchampion...everythin’seemsterhappenteryou,doesn’it?"

           Harrydidn’tanswer.Yes,everythingdidseemtohappentohim...thatwasmoreorlesswhatHermionehadsaidastheyhadwalkedaroundthelake,andthatwasthereason,accordingtoher,thatRonwasnolongertalkingtohim.

           ThenextfewdaysweresomeofHarry’sworstatHogwarts.
