           WildBillWhartontookhisfirsttripdowntotherestraintroomtheverynextday.HespentthemorningandafternoonbeingasquietandgoodasMary’slittlelamb,astatewesoondiscoveredwasnotnaturaltohim,andmeanttrouble.Then,aroundseven-thirtythatevening,Harryfeltsomethingwarmsplashonthecuffsofuniformpantshehadputoncleanjustthatday.Itwaspiss.WilliamWhartonwasstandingathiscell,showinghisdarkeningteethinawidegrin,andpissingalloverHarryTerwilliger’spantsandshoes.

           "Thedirtysonofabitchmusthavebeensavingitupallday,"Harrysaidlater,stilldisgustedandoutraged.

           Well,thatwasit.ItwastimetoshowWilliamWhartonwhorantheshowonEBlock.HarrygotBrutalandme,andIalertedDeanandPercy,whowerealsoon.Wehadthreeprisonersbythen,remember,andwereintowhatwecalledfullcoverage,withmygrouponfromsevenintheeveningtothreeinthemorning—whentroublewasmostapttobreakout—andtwoothercrewscoveringtherestoftheday.Thoseothercrewsconsistedmostlyoffloaters,withBillDodgeusuallyincharge.Itwasn’tabadwaytorunthings,allandall,andIfeltthat,onceIcouldshiftPercyovertodays,lifewouldbeevenbetter.Inevergotaroundtothat,however.Isometimeswonderifitwouldhavechangedthings,ifIhad.

           Anyway,therewasabigwatermaininthestorageroom,onthesideawayfromOldSparky,andDeanandPercyhookedupalengthofcanvasfirehosetoit.
