Hehadbeenhurryingalongthenewpathforafewminutes,whenheheardsomethinginthepathrunningparalleltohisownthatmadehimstopdead.

TheairwassuddenlyfullofCedric’syells.Horrified,Harrybegansprintinguphispath,tryingtofindawayintoCedric’s.Whennoneappeared,hetriedtheReductorCurseagain.Itwasn’tveryeffective,butitburnedasmallholeinthehedgethroughwhichHarryforcedhisleg,kickingatthethickbramblesandbranchesuntiltheybrokeandmadeanopening;hestruggledthroughit,tearinghisrobes,andlookingtohisright,sawCedricjerkingandtwitchingontheground,Krumstandingoverhim.
HarrypulledhimselfupandpointedhiswandatKrumjustasKrumlookedup.Krumturnedandbegantorun.
"Stupefy!"Harryyelled.
ThespellhitKrumintheback;hestoppeddeadinhistracks,fellforward,andlaymotionless,facedowninthegrass.Harry-dashedovertoCedric,whohadstoppedtwitchingandwaslyingtherepanting,hishandsoverhisface.
"Areyouallright?"Harrysaidroughly,grabbingCedric’sarm.
