           Laterwewereonaroadthatledtoariver.Therewasalonglineofabandonedtrucksandcartsontheroadleadinguptothebridge.Noonewasinsight.Theriverwashighandthebridgehadbeenblownupinthecentre;thestonearchwasfallenintotheriverandthebrownwaterwasgoingoverit.Wewentonupthebanklookingforaplacetocross.UpaheadIknewtherewasarailwaybridgeandIthoughtwemightbeabletogetacrossthere.Thepathwaswetandmuddy.Wedidnotseeanytroops;onlyabandonedtrucksandstores.Alongtheriverbanktherewasnothingandnoonebutthewetbrushandmuddyground.Wewentuptothebankandfinallywesawtherailwaybridge.

           "Whatabeautifulbridge,"Aymosaid.Itwasalongplainironbridgeacrosswhatwasusuallyadryriver-bed.

           "We’dbetterhurryandgetacrossbeforetheyblowitup,"Isaid.
