Weallhaveemotionalblindspots.Oftentheyhavetodowiththeemotionsthatweweretaughtwereinappropriategrowingup.Ittakesyearsofpracticeandefforttogetgoodatidentifyingblindspotsinourselvesandthenexpressingtheaffectedemotionsappropriately.Butthistaskishugelyimportant,andworththeeffort.
Thesecondlayeroftheself-awarenessonionisanabilitytoaskwhywefeelcertainemotions.
Thesewhyquestionsaredifficultandoftentakemonthsorevenyearstoanswerconsistentlyandaccurately.Mostpeopleneedtogotosomesortoftherapistjusttohearthesequestionsaskedforthefirsttime.
