           TheyweregoingtoGuildfordtospendtheweek-endwithDolly,andweredrivingdownaftertheSaturdaynight’sperformanceinthenewcarthatJuliahadgivenMichaelforhisbirthday.Itwasawarmbeautifulnight.Michaelhadboughtoptions,thoughitwrunghishearttowritethecheques,onthreeplaysthattheybothliked,andhehadheardofatheatrethattheycouldgetonreasonableterms.Everythingwasreadyfortheventureexceptthecapital.HeurgedJuliatoseizetheopportunitythattheweek-endpresented.

           "Askheryourselfthen,"saidJuliaimpatiently."Itellyou,I’mnotgoingto."
