           ChristenelearnedthatshehadtobecarefulhowsheplayedwithKathywhenBilly’smotherwasaround.AtfirstshethoughttheboyintheotherbedmightbeBilly,buteveryonecalledhimJimbo,sosheknewhewastheolderbrother.HerownnamewasChristene,butsinceeveryonecalledherBilly,shelearnedtoanswertoit.ShelovedKathyverymuch,andasthemonthswentby,sheplayedwithher,taughtherwords,watchedasshelearnedtowalk.SheknewwhenKathywashungryandwhatfoodsKathyliked.SheknewwhensomethingwashurtingKathyandshetoldDorothyifanythingwaswrong.

           Theyplayedhousetogether,andsheenjoyedplayingdress-upwithKathywhenhermommywasn’tthere.They’dputonDorothy’sclothesandshoesandhatsandpretendtheyweresinginginthenightclub.Mostofall,ChristenelikedtodrawpicturesforKathy,butshedidn’tdoitonthewallsanymore.Dorothygotherlotsofpaperandcrayons,andeveryonesaidhowgoodBillywasatmakingpictures.

           DorothywasworriedwhenJohnnycamehomefromthehospital.Heseemedjmewhenheplayedwiththechildrenortriedtoworkupnewsongsandroutinesfortheshow,butwhenherbackwasturned,he’dbeonthephonewiththebookies.Shetriedtostophim,butheturnedonher,cursedherandhither.HemovedouttotheMidgetMansionsMotel,missingChristmaswiththechildrenandKathy’sthirdbirthdayonNewYear’sEve.
