OnOctober4,twodaysbeforeBillywastoreturntotheFranklinCountyJail,HarryFrankenoftheCitizen-JoumalbrokeasecondmajorstoryaboutMilligan.HehadgottenacopyoftheHardingreportfromanunnamedsource,andhecametoGaryandJudyforcomment,tellingthemhewasgoingtorunthestory.GaryandJudyinformedJudgeFlowers,whodecidedthestoryshouldbereleasedtotheColumbusDispatchaswell.Thepublicdefendersagreedtocommentonthereport,sinceithadbeenleakedalready.TheyallowedphotographerstotakepicturesofthepaintingsGaryhadbroughtbackfromthehospital—MosesabouttobreakthetabletcontainingtheTenCommandments,aJewishmusicianplayingahorn,alandscapeandtheportraitofAdalana.
ThenewspaperstoriesupsetBilly,andhewasdepressedduringhisfinalsessionwithDr.Kocan.
