ThereweremanypicturesofMugglemotorcycles,andalso(HarryhadtoadmireSirius’snerve)severalpostersofbikini-cladMugglegirls;HarrycouldtellthattheywereMugglesbecausetheyremainedquitestationarywithintheirpictures,fadedsmilesandglazedeyesfrozenonthepaper.ThiswasincontrasttotheonlyWizardingphotographonthewalls,whichwasapictureoffourHogwartsstudentsstandingarminarm,laughingatthecamera.
Withaleapofpleasure,Harryrecognizedhisfather;hisuntidyblackhairstuckupatthebacklikeHarry’s,andhetooworeglasses.BesidehimwasSirius,carelesslyhandsome,hisslightlyarrogantfacesomuchyoungerandhappierthanHarryhadeverseenitalive.ToSirius’srightstoodPettigrew,morethanaheadshorter,plumpandwatery-eyed,flushedwithpleasureathisinclusioninthiscoolestofgangs,withthemuch-admiredrebelsthatJamesandSiriushadbeen.OnJames’sleftwasLupin,eventhenalittleshabby-looking,buthehadthesameairofdelightedsurpriseatfindinghimselflikedandincluded...orwasitsimplybecauseHarryknewhowithadbeen,thathesawthesethingsinthepicture?Hetriedtotakeitfromthewall;itwashisnow,afterall,Siriushadlefthimeverything,butitwouldnotbudge.Siriushadtakennochancesinpreventinghisparentsfromredecoratinghisroom.
Harrylookedaroundatthefloor.Theskyoutsidewasgrowingbrighter:Ashaftoflightrevealedbitsofpaper,books,andsmallobjectsscatteredoverthecarpet.
