Lurvywasinbedbyeight-thirty.HelaydreamingthathewasthrowingbaseballsataclothcatandwinningagenuineNavajoblanket.Mr.andMrs.Zuckermanwereinbedbynine.Mrs.Zuckermanlaydreamingaboutadeepfreezeunit.Mr.ZuckermanlaydreamingaboutWilbur.HedreamtthatWilburhadgrownuntilhewasonehundredandsixteenfeetlongandninety-twofeethighandthathehadwonalltheprizesattheFairandwascoveredwithblueribbonsandevenhadablueribbontiedtotheendofhistail.

Whenmorningcame,everybodygotupatdaylight.Thedaywashot.UptheroadattheArables’house,Fernluggedapailofhotwatertoherroomandtookaspongebath.ThensheputonherprettiestdressbecausesheknewshewouldseeboysattheFair.Mrs.ArablescrubbedthebackofAvery’sneck,andwethishair,andpartedit,andbrusheditdownhardtillitstucktothetopofhishead-allbutaboutsixhairsthatstoodstraightup.Averyputoncleanunderwear,cleanbluejeans,andacleanshirt.Mr.Arabledressed,atebreakfast,andthenwentoutandpolishedhistruck.HehadofferedtodriveeverybodytotheFair,includingWilbur.
