           WhileMichaelwasworkinghiswaybetweenpoolsofslimetothebathroom,SophiethrewherapronintothehearthtostopmoreofthestuffgettingnearCalciferandsnatcheduptheshovel.Shescoopeduploadsofashanddumpedtheminthebiggestpoolsofslime.Ithissedviolently.Theroomfilledwithsteamandsmelledworsethanever.Sophiefurleduphersleeves,bentherbacktogetagoodpurchaseontheWizard’sslimyknees,andpushedHowl,stoolandall,towardthebathroom.Herfeetslippedandskiddedintheslime,butofcoursetheoozinesshelpedthestooltomovetoo.MichaelcameandpulledatHowl’sslime-drapedsleeves.Together,theytrundledhimintothebathroom.There,sinceHowlstillrefusedtomove,theyshuntedhimintotheshowerstall.

           “Hotwater,Calcifer!”Sophiepantedgrimly.“Veryhot.”

           IttookanhourtowashtheslimeoffHowl.IttookMichaelanotherhourtopersuadeHowltogetoffthestoolandintodryclothes.Luckily,thegray-and-scarletsuitSophiehadjustmendedhadbeendrapedoverthebackofthechair,outofthewayoftheslime.Theblue-and-silversuitwasruined.SophietoldMichaeltoputitinthebathtosoak.Meanwhile,mumblingandgrumbling,shefetchedmorehotwater.Sheturnedthedoorknobgreen-downandsweptalltheslimeoutontothemoors.Thecastleleftatraillikeasnailintheheather,butitwasaneasywaytogetridoftheslime.
