Weshouldpickourbattlescarefully,whilesimultaneouslyattemptingtoempathizeabitwiththeso-calledenemy.Weshouldapproachthenewsandmediawithahealthydoseofskepticismandavoidpaintingthosewhodisagreewithuswithabroadbrush.Weshouldprioritizevaluesofbeinghonest,fosteringtransparency,andwelcomingdoubtoverthevaluesofbeingright,feelinggood,andgettingrevenge.These“democratic”valuesarehardertomaintainamidsttheconstantnoiseofanetworkedworld.Butwemustaccepttheresponsibilityandnurturethemregardless.Thefuturestabilityofourpoliticalsystemsmaydependonit.
