           Kikiwasgivenagoodsupperandagoodbed,andhebehavedverywell,althoughherefusedtoanswerallthequestionsthegoodpeopleofNolandaskedhim.Havingescapedfromhishomeandfoundawaytoseetheworld,theyoungmanwasnolongerunhappy,andsohewasnolongercrossanddisagreeable.Thepeoplethoughthimaveryrespectablepersonandgavehimbreakfastnextmorning,afterwhichhestartedonhiswayfeelingquitecontented.

           HavingwalkedforanhourortwothroughtheprettycountrythatisruledbyKingBud,KikiArudecidedhecouldtravelfasterandseemoreasabird,sohetransformedhimselfintoawhitedoveandvisitedthegreatcityofNoleandsawtheKing’spalaceandgardensandmanyotherplacesofinterest.ThenheflewwestwardintotheKingdomofIx,andafteradayinQueenZixi’scountrywentonwestwardintotheLandofEv.Everyplacehevisitedhethoughtwasmuchmorepleasantthanthesaucer-countryoftheHyups,andhedecidedthatwhenhereachedthefinestcountryofallhewouldsettlethereandenjoyhisfuturelifetotheutmost.

           InthelandofEvheresumedhisownshapeagain,forthecitiesandvillageswereclosetogetherandhecouldeasilygoonfootfromonetoanotherofthem.

           TowardeveninghecametoagoodInnandaskedtheinn-keeperifhecouldhavefoodandlodging.

           ThissurprisedKiki,forintheLandofOztheydonotusemoneyatall,everyonebeingallowedtotakewhathewisheswithoutprice.
