ForhehaddecidedtomakehisfirsttriptothecountryoutsidetheLandofOz.HehadstolenthissecretoftransformationandheknewhehaddisobeyedthelawofOzbyworkingmagic.PerhapsGlindaortheWizardofOzwoulddiscoverhimandpunishhim,soitwouldbegoodpolicytokeepawayfromOzaltogether.
SlowlyKikiroseintotheair,andrestingonhisbroadwings,floatedingracefulcirclesabovethesaucer-shapedmountain-top.Fromhisheight,hecouldsee,faracrosstheburningsandsoftheDeadlyDesert,anothercountrythatmightbepleasanttoexplore,soheheadedthatway,andwithstrong,steadystrokesofhiswings,beganthelongflight.
