           "Iguesstheyare,"agreedtheWizard,equallydelighted.

           ThebeeshoveredovertheraftaninstantandthenflewacrosstherivertowheretheLionandtheTigerwaited.TheWizardpickedupthepaddleandpaddledtheraftacrossasfastashecould.Whenitreachedtheriverbank,bothDorothyandtheWizardleapedashoreandthelittlemanaskedexcitedly:

           "Wherearethebees?"

           "Thebees?"inquiredtheLion,whowashalfasleepanddidnotknowwhathadhappenedontheMagicIsle.

           "Yes;thereweretwoofthem."

           "Twobees?"saidtheHungryTiger,yawning."Why,IateoneofthemandtheCowardlyLionatetheother."

           "Goodnessgracious!"criedDorothyhorrified.

           "Itwaslittleenoughforourlunch,"remarkedtheTiger,"butthebeesweretheonlythingswecouldfind."

           "Howdreadful!"wailedDorothy,wringingherhandsindespair."You’veeatenTrotandCap’nBill."

           Butjustthensheheardabuzzingoverheadandtwobeesalightedonhershoulder.

           "Hereweare,"saidasmallvoiceinherear."I’mTrot,Dorothy."

           "AndI’mCap’nBill,"saidtheotherbee.

           Dorothyalmostfainted,withrelief,andtheWizard,whowasclosebyandhadheardthetinyvoices,gavealaughandsaid:

           "Youarenottheonlytwobeesintheforest,itseems,butIadviseyoutokeepawayfromtheLionandtheTigeruntilyouregainyourproperforms."

           "Doitnow,Wizard!"advisedDorothy."They’resosmallthatyounevercantellwhatmighthappento’em.
