"Um."Istruggled."CanIgetupnow?"
Hejustlaughed.
"Canwecomein?"asoftvoicesoundedfromthehall.
Istruggledtofreemyself,butEdwardmerelyreadjustedmesothatIwassomewhatmoreconventionallyseatedonhislap.IcouldseeitwasAlice,then,andJasperbehindherinthedoorway.Mycheeksburned,butEdwardseemedatease.
"Goahead."Edwardwasstillchucklingquietly.
Aliceseemedtofindnothingunusualinourembrace;shewalked-almostdanced,hermovementsweresograceful-tothecenteroftheroom,whereshefoldedherselfsinuouslyontothefloor.Jasper,however,pausedatthedoor,hisexpressionatrifleshocked.HestaredatEdward’sface,andIwonderedifhewastastingtheatmospherewithhisunusualsensitivity.
"ItsoundedlikeyouwerehavingBellaforlunch,andwecametoseeifyouwouldshare,"Aliceannounced.
