haveprogressedtothefirst-kissstage.Ismiledtomyself,pleased.Angelawaspassivelyhappytobegoingtothedance,butnotreallyinterestedinEric.Jesstriedtogethertoconfesswhohertypewas,butIinterruptedwithaquestionaboutdressesafterabit,tospareher.Angelathrewagratefulglancemyway.
PortAngeleswasabeautifullittletouristtrap,muchmorepolishedandquaintthanForks.ButJessicaandAngelaknewitwell,sotheydidn’tplantowastetimeonthepicturesqueboardwalkbythebay.Jessdrovestraighttotheonebigdepartmentstoreintown,whichwasafewstreetsinfromthebayarea’svisitor-friendlyface.
Thedancewasbilledassemiformal,andweweren’texactlysurewhatthatmeant.BothJessicaandAngelaseemedsurprisedandalmostdisbelievingwhenItoldthemI’dneverbeentoadanceinPhoenix.
"Didn’tyouevergowithaboyfriendorsomething?"Jessaskeddubiouslyaswewalkedthroughthefrontdoorsofthestore.
