Iskippedtothebathroom,myemotionsunrecognizable.Ididn’tknowmyself,insideorout.Thefaceinthemirrorwaspracticallyastranger-eyestoobright,hecticspotsofredacrossmycheekbones.AfterIbrushedmyteeth,Iworkedtostraightenoutthetangledchaosthatwasmyhair.Isplashedmyfacewithcoldwater,andtriedtobreathenormally,withnonoticeablesuccess.Ihalf-ranbacktomyroom.
Itseemedlikeamiraclethathewasthere,hisarmsstillwaitingforme.Hereachedouttome,andmyheartthumpedunsteadily.
"Welcomeback,"hemurmured,takingmeintohisarms.
