IreachedtheedgeofthepooloflightandsteppedthroughthelastfringeoffernsintotheloveliestplaceIhadeverseen.Themeadowwassmall,perfectlyround,andfilledwithwildflowers-violet,yellow,andsoftwhite.Somewherenearby,Icouldhearthebubblingmusicofastream.Thesunwasdirectlyoverhead,fillingthecirclewithahazeofbutterysunshine.Iwalkedslowly,awestruck,throughthesoftgrass,swayingflowers,andwarm,gildedair.Ihalfwayturned,wantingtosharethiswithhim,buthewasn’tbehindmewhereIthoughthe’dbe.Ispunaround,searchingforhimwithsuddenalarm.FinallyIspottedhim,stillunderthedenseshadeofthecanopyattheedgeofthehollow,watchingmewithcautiouseyes.OnlythendidIrememberwhatthebeautyofthemeadowhaddrivenfrommymind-theenigmaofEdwardandthesun,whichhe’dpromisedtoillustrateformetoday.
