Onedayhehandedherasheetofpaperwithwritingalloveritandsigned"Arthur."Heseemedquitefrightened,saying,"Idon’tknowanybodynamedArthur,andIdon’tunderstandwhat’swrittenonthepaper."
SoonthestaffwascomplainingtoDr.Georgethattheyfounditincreasinglydifficulttodealwithsomeonewhoconstantlysaid,"Ididn’tdothat,someoneelsedid,"whentheyhadseenithappenwiththeirowneyes.Milligan,theysaid,wasunderminingthetreatmentofotherpatients,manipulatingthestaffbygoingfromonetotheothertogetwhathewanted.HeconstantlyhintedthatRagenmightcomeoutandhandlematters,andthestaffsawthisasaveiledthreat.
Dr.GeorgesuggestedthathebetheonetodealwithMilligan’salterpersonalities,andthenonlyintherapysessions.Thestaffshouldnotmentionordiscusstheothernamesontheunit,especiallynotinfrontoftheotherpatients.
