Onthefarwall,acrossfromthesofa,hunganornatelyframedreproductionofPicasso’s"MotherandChild,"anddirectlyopposite,abovethesofa,wasapaintingofadashingRenaissancecourtier,masked,swordinhand,protectingafrightened,pink-cheekedmaiden.Takenalltogether,itwaswrong.
