"Threecoffees,"saidWednesdaytoShadow.Hewenttotherestroom.
ShadowboughtthecoffeesandtookthemovertoCzernobog,whowassittingwiththeoldblackman,andwassmokingacigarettesurreptitiously,asifhewerescaredofbeingcaught.Theotherman,happilytoyingwithhissundae,mostlyignoredhiscigarillo,butasShadowapproachedhepickeditup,inhaleddeeply,andblewtwosmokerings—firstonelargeone,thenanother,smallerone,whichpassedneatlythroughthefirst—andhegrinned,asifhewereastonishinglypleasedwithhimself.
