           ThetroublebeganatthetimeEarlBrady’scarpassedtheDivers’carstoppedontheroadAbe’saccountmeltedimpersonallyintothethrongednightVioletMcKiscowastellingMrs.AbramssomethingshehadfoundoutabouttheDiversshehadgoneupstairsintheirhouseandshehadcomeuponsomethingtherewhichhadmadeagreatimpressiononher.ButTommyisawatch-dogabouttheDivers.Asamatteroffactsheisinspiringandformidablebutit’samutualthing,andthefactofTheDiverstogetherismoreimportanttotheirfriendsthanmanyofthemrealize.Ofcourseit’sdoneatacertainsacrificesometimestheyseemjustrathercharmingfiguresinaballet,andworthjusttheattentionyougiveaballet,butit’smorethanthatyou’dhavetoknowthestory.AnyhowTommyisoneofthosementhatDick’spassedalongtoNicoleandwhenMrs.McKiscokepthintingatherstory,hecalledthemonit.Hesaid:
