DickandRosemaryhadluncheonattheCastellideiCæsari,asplendidrestaurantinahigh-terracedvillaoverlookingtheruinedforumofanundeterminedperiodofthedecadence.Rosemarytookacocktailandalittlewine,andDicktookenoughsothathisfeelingofdissatisfactionlefthim.Afterwardtheydrovebacktothehotel,allflushedandhappy,inasortofexaltedquiet.Shewantedtobetakenandshewas,andwhathadbegunwithachildishinfatuationonabeachwasaccomplishedatlast.
