           Theownersofthelandcameontotheland,ormoreoftenaspokesmanfortheownerscame.Theycameinclosedcars,andtheyfeltthedryearthwiththeirfingers,andsometimestheydrovebigearthaugersintothegroundforsoiltests.Thetenants,fromtheirsun-beatendooryards,watcheduneasilywhentheclosedcarsdrovealongthefields.Andatlasttheownermendroveintothedooryardsandsatintheircarstotalkoutofthewindows.Thetenantmenstoodbesidethecarsforawhile,andthensquattedontheirhamsandfoundstickswithwhichtomarkthedust.
