Hecouldclamberabouttheroofandwindowsforhoursattemptingtodiscovermeansofingress,buttothedoorhepaidlittleattention,forthiswasapparentlyassolidasthewalls.
Itwasinthenextvisittothevicinity,followingtheadventurewitholdSabor,that,asheapproachedthecabin,Tarzannoticedthatfromadistancethedoorappearedtobeanindependentpartofthewallinwhichitwasset,andforthefirsttimeitoccurredtohimthatthismightprovethemeansofentrancewhichhadsolongeludedhim.
Hewasalone,aswasoftenthecasewhenhevisitedthecabin,fortheapeshadnoloveforit;thestoryofthethunder-stickhavinglostnothinginthetellingduringthesetenyearshadquitesurroundedthewhiteman’sdesertedabodewithanatmosphereofweirdnessandterrorforthesimians.
