TherewasoneofthetribeofTarzanwhoquestionedhisauthority,andthatwasTerkoz,thesonofTublat,buthesofearedthekeenknifeandthedeadlyarrowsofhisnewlordthatheconfinedthemanifestationofhisobjectionstopettydisobediencesandirritatingmannerisms;Tarzanknew,however,thathebutwaitedhisopportunitytowrestthekingshipfromhimbysomesuddenstrokeoftreachery,andsohewaseveronhisguardagainstsurprise.
Formonthsthelifeofthelittlebandwentonmuchasithadbefore,exceptthatTarzan’sgreaterintelligenceandhisabilityasahunterwerethemeansofprovidingforthemmorebountifullythaneverbefore.Mostofthem,therefore,weremorethancontentwiththechangeinrulers.
