Thebuildingofabed,chairs,table,andshelveswasarelativelyeasymatter,sothatbytheendofthesecondmonththeywerewellsettled,and,butfortheconstantdreadofattackbywildbeastsandtheevergrowingloneliness,theywerenotuncomfortableorunhappy.
Atnightgreatbeastssnarledandroaredabouttheirtinycabin,but,soaccustomedmayonebecometooftrepeatednoises,thatsoontheypaidlittleattentiontothem,sleepingsoundlythewholenightthrough.
