D’Arnotrealizednowthathehadmadeamistake,butitseemedtoolatetogobackanddoitalloveragainandforceTarzantounlearnallthathehadlearned,especiallyastheywererapidlyapproachingapointwheretheywouldbeabletoconverse.
OnthethirddayafterthefeverbrokeTarzanwroteamessageaskingD’Arnotifhefeltstrongenoughtobecarriedbacktothecabin.TarzanwasasanxioustogoasD’Arnot,forhelongedtoseeJaneagain.
IthadbeenhardforhimtoremainwiththeFrenchmanallthesedaysforthatveryreason,andthathehadunselfishlydonesospokemoreglowinglyofhisnobilityofcharacterthanevendidhisrescuingtheFrenchofficerfromMbonga’sclutches.
