TheblackshadnotasyetcomeuponTarzan’scabinonthedistantbeach,buttheape-manlivedinconstantdreadthat,whilehewasawaywiththetribe,theywoulddiscoveranddespoilhistreasure.Soitcamethathespentmoreandmoretimeinthevicinityofhisfather’slasthome,andlessandlesswiththetribe.Presentlythemembersofhislittlecommunitybegantosufferonaccountofhisneglect,fordisputesandquarrelsconstantlyarosewhichonlythekingmightsettlepeaceably.
AtlastsomeoftheolderapesspoketoTarzanonthesubject,andforamonththereafterheremainedconstantlywiththetribe.
Thedutiesofkingshipamongtheanthropoidsarenotmanyorarduous.
