           HehadthoughtthathewouldfeelelatediftheymanagedtostealbacktheHorcrux,butsomehowhedidnot;allhefeltashesatlookingoutatthedarkness,ofwhichhiswandlitonlyatinypart,wasworryaboutwhatwouldhappennext.Itwasasthoughhehadbeenhurtlingtowardthispointforweeks,months,maybeevenyears,butnowhehadcometoanabrupthalt,runoutofroad.

           TherewereotherHorcruxesouttheresomewhere,buthedidnothavethefaintestideawheretheycouldbe.Hedidnotevenknowwhatallofthemwere.Meanwhilehewasatalosstoknowhowtodestroytheonlyonethattheyhadfound,theHorcruxthatcurrentlylayagainstthebarefleshofhischest.Curiously,ithadnottakenheatfromhisbody,butlaysocoldagainsthisskinitmightjusthaveemergedfromicywater.FromtimetotimeHarrythought,orperhapsimagined,thathecouldfeelthetinyheartbeattickingirregularlyalongsidehisown.

           Namelessforebodingscreptuponhimashesatthereinthedark:Hetriedtoresistthem,pushthemaway,yettheycameathimrelentlessly.Neithercanlivewhiletheothersurvives.RonandHermione,nowtalkingsoftlybehindhiminthetent,couldwalkawayiftheywantedto:Hecouldnot.AnditseemedtoHarryashesattheretryingtomasterhisownfearandexhaustion,thattheHorcruxagainsthischestwastickingawaythetimehehadleft....Stupididea,hetoldhimself,don’tthinkthat....
