‘Youseemtothink,’retortedthedoctor,‘thateverybodyisdisposedtobehard-heartedto-day,exceptyourself,MissRose.Ionlyhope,forthesakeoftherisingmalesexgenerally,thatyoumaybefoundinasvulnerableandsoft-heartedamoodbythefirsteligibleyoungfellowwhoappealstoyourcompassion;andIwishIwereayoungfellow,thatImightavailmyself,onthespot,ofsuchafavourableopportunityfordoingso,asthepresent.’
‘YouareasgreataboyaspoorBrittleshimself,’returnedRose,blushing.
