OldGrandpaJoestaggeredtohisfeetandcaughtholdofastrap. LittleCharlie,whocouldn’tpossiblyreachashighasthat,puthisarmsaroundGrandpaJoe’slegsandhungontight.

Thensuddenly,asthoughithadcometothetopofthehillandgoneoveraprecipice,itdroppedlikeastone andCharliefelthistummycomingrightupintohisthroat, andGrandpaJoeshouted,’Yippee!Herewego!’ andMrsTeaveecriedout,’Theropehasbroken!We’regoingtocrash!’ AndMrWonkasaid,’Calmyourself,mydearlady,’andpattedhercomfortinglyonthearm.
