ThenherememberedinaflashwhattheBurgomastergullhadscreamedtohimwhenhewasalittleyearlingatWalrusIslet,andhetumbledbackwardinthewater,forheknewthathehadfoundSeaCowatlast.
Theseacowswentonschloopingandgrazingandchumpingintheweed,andKotickaskedthemquestionsineverylanguagethathehadpickedupinhistravels;andtheSeaPeopletalknearlyasmanylanguagesashumanbeings.ButtheseacowsdidnotanswerbecauseSeaCowcannottalk.Hehasonlysixbonesinhisneckwhereheoughttohaveseven,andtheysayundertheseathatthatpreventshimfromspeakingeventohiscompanions.
