Oratleast,theydidn’tuntiltheyspottedanoticepinnedupintheGryffindorcommonroomthatmadethemallgroan. FlyinglessonswouldbestartingonThursday—andGryffindorandSlytherinwouldbelearningtogether.
"Typical,"saidHarrydarkly. "JustwhatIalwayswanted. TomakeafoolofmyselfonabroomstickinfrontofMalfoy."
Hehadbeenlookingforwardtolearningtoflymorethananythingelse.
"Youdon’tknowthatyou’llmakeafoolofyourself,"saidRonreasonably. "Anyway,IknowMalfoy’salwaysgoingonabouthowgoodheisatQuidditch,butIbetthat’salltalk."
Malfoycertainlydidtalkaboutflyingalot. HecomplainedloudlyaboutfirstyearsnevergettingonthehouseQuidditchteamsandtoldlong,boastfulstoriesthatalwaysseemedtoendwithhimnarrowlyescapingMugglesinhelicopters. Hewasn’ttheonlyone,though: thewaySeamusFinnigantoldit,he’dspentmostofhischildhoodzoomingaroundthecountrysideonhisbroomstick. EvenRonwouldtellanyonewho’dlistenaboutthetimehe’dalmosthitahangglideronCharlie’soldbroom. EveryonefromwizardingfamiliestalkedaboutQuidditchconstantly. RonhadalreadyhadabigargumentwithDeanThomas,whosharedtheirdormitory,aboutsoccer. Roncouldn’tseewhatwasexcitingaboutagamewithonlyoneballwherenoonewasallowedtofly. HarryhadcaughtRonproddingDean’sposterofWestHamsoccerteam,tryingtomaketheplayersmove.
