Harrywasgladschoolwasover, buttherewasnoescapingDudley’sgang, whovisitedthehouseeverysingleday. Piers,Dennis,Malcolm,andGordonwereallbigandstupid, butasDudleywasthebiggestandstupidestofthelot,hewastheleader. TherestofthemwereallquitehappytojoininDudley’sfavoritesport:HarryHunting.
ThiswaswhyHarryspentasmuchtimeaspossibleoutofthehouse, wanderingaroundandthinkingabouttheendoftheholidays, wherehecouldseeatinyrayofhope. WhenSeptembercamehewouldbegoingofftosecondaryschool and,forthefirsttimeinhislife,hewouldn’tbewithDudley. DudleyhadbeenacceptedatUncleVernon’soldprivateschool,Smeltings. PiersPolkisswasgoingtheretoo. Harry,ontheotherhand,wasgoingtoStonewallHigh, thelocalpublicschool. Dudleythoughtthiswasveryfunny.
