"Andtheganderopenedhisstrongwingsandbeattheairwiththemtoshowhispower.Hewasstrongandbrave,butthetruthis,boththegooseandtheganderwereworriedaboutTempleton.Andwithgoodreason.Therathadnomorals,noconscience,noscruples,noconsideration,nodecency,nomilkofrodentkindness,nocompunctions,nohigherfeeling,nofriendliness,noanything.Hewouldkillagoslingifhecouldgetawaywithit-thegooseknewthat.Everybodyknewit.
Withherbroadbillthegoosepushedtheunhatchedeggoutofthenest,andtheentirecompanywatchedindisgustwhiletheratrolleditaway.EvenWilbur,whocouldeatalmostanything,wasappalled."Imaginewantingajunkyoldrottenegg!"hemuttered.

Hedisappearedintohistunnel,pushingthegooseegginfrontofhim.Hepushedandnudgedtillhesucceededinrollingittohislairunderthetrough.
Thatafternoon,whenthewindhaddieddownandthebarnyardwasquietandwarm,thegreygooseledhersevengoslingsoffthenestandoutintotheworld.Mr.ZuckermanspiedthemwhenhecamewithWilbur’ssupper.
