Actionisn’tjusttheeffectofmotivation;it’salsothecauseofit.
Mostofuscommittoactiononlyifwefeelacertainlevelofmotivation.Andwefeelmotivationonlywhenwefeelenoughemotionalinspiration.Weassumethatthesestepsoccurinasortofchainreaction,likethis:
Emotionalinspiration→Motivation→Desirableaction
Ifyouwanttoaccomplishsomethingbutdon’tfeelmotivatedorinspired,thenyouassumeyou’rejustscrewed.There’snothingyoucandoaboutit.It’snotuntilamajoremotionallifeeventoccursthatyoucangenerateenoughmotivationtoactuallygetoffthecouchanddosomething.
Thethingaboutmotivationisthatit’snotonlyathree-partchain,butanendlessloop:
Inspiration→Motivation→Action→Inspiration→Motivation→Action→Etc.
Youractionscreatefurtheremotionalreactionsandinspirationsandmoveontomotivateyourfutureactions.
