           WhenDorothyandTrotandBetsyBobbinandOzmaweretogether,onewouldthinktheywereallaboutofanage,andthefairyRulernoolderandnomore"grownup"thantheotherthree.Shewouldlaughandrompwiththeminregulargirlishfashion,yettherewasanairofquietdignityaboutOzma,eveninhermerriestmoods,that,inamanner,distinguishedherfromtheothers.Thethreegirlslovedherdevotedly,buttheywereneverabletoquiteforgetthatOzmawastheRoyalRulerofthewonderfulFairylandofOz,andbybirthbelongedtoapowerfulrace.

           Ozma’spalacestoodinthecenterofadelightfulandextensivegarden,wheresplendidtreesandfloweringshrubsandstatuaryandfountainsabounded.Onecouldwalkforhoursinthisfascinatingparkandseesomethinginterestingateverystep.Inoneplacewasanaquarium,wherestrangeandbeautifulfishswam;atanotherspotallthebirdsoftheairgathereddailytoagreatfeastwhichOzma’sservantsprovidedforthem,andweresofearlessofharmthattheywouldalightuponone’sshouldersandeatfromone’shand.TherewasalsotheFountainoftheWaterofOblivion,butitwasdangeroustodrinkofthiswater,becauseitmadeoneforgeteverythinghehadeverbeforeknown,eventohisownname,andthereforeOzmahadplacedasignofwarninguponthefountain.
