"Whathappenstothem,then?"askedDorothy.
"Theygrowsmaller,hourbyhouranddaybyday,andfinallydisappearentirely."

Theywereproceedingatarapidpaceduringthisconversation,fortheHungryTigerandtheCowardlyLionwereobligedtomoveswiftlyinordertokeeppacewiththeGlassCat.AfterleavingtheForestofGugutheycrossedamountainrange,andthenabroadplain,afterwhichtheyreachedanotherforest,muchsmallerthanthatwhereGuguruled.
"TheMagicIsleisinthisforest,"saidtheGlassCat,"buttheriverisattheothersideoftheforest.Thereisnopaththroughthetrees,butifwekeepgoingeast,wewillfindtheriver,andthenitwillbeeasytofindtheMagicIsle."
"Haveyouevertraveledthiswaybefore?"inquiredtheWizard.
"Notexactly,"admittedtheCat,"butIknowweshallreachtheriverifwegoeastthroughtheforest."
