Itwasn’tverycrowded,buttheygavemealousytableanyway—wayintheback. Ishould’vewavedabuckunderthehead-waiter’snose. InNewYork,boy,moneyreallytalks—I’mnotkidding.
Thebandwasputrid.BuddySinger. Verybrassy,butnotgoodbrassy—cornybrassy. Also,therewereveryfewpeoplearoundmyageintheplace. Infact,nobodywasaroundmyage. Theyweremostlyold,show-offy-lookingguyswiththeirdates. Exceptatthetablerightnexttome. Atthetablerightnexttome,therewerethesethreegirlsaroundthirtyorso.
